How To Be More Active?
Hello there beautiful people!
I hope you are well and January has been treating you well.
This year my main personal focus is on health and fitness; however, I have learned so much from taking this challenge head on, I am getting so much stuff done!
The answer is very simple (though, it wasn’t that obvious at first!), it all comes down to the level of activity I am doing.
The fitter I become, the more energy I use, therefore the higher the levels of activity.
In fewer words: I move more and I do more.
The pivotal moment for me was when I made the decision to become a vegan. For the first time EVER I didn’t have to worry about calories or pounds or anything else.
This lifestyle change gave me so much energy that I started exercising without complaining about tiredness or making excuses.
I noticed a change in my body and mindset very rapidly AND my activity levels improved as well.
How to be more active?
The easiest and simplest way to be more active is to move!
It sounds too easy, right?
Though, moving can be the most challenging and scariest thing to do for some people, for instance, when you are upset or sad you want the world to leave you around, you hibernate in your cave and do nothing!
Even the simplest of tasks are a hassle.
The same apply when we overindulge, we require more energy to burn calories and any level of activity is out of the question.
We could add more to the list: hangovers, tiredness, wrong diet, etc, etc.
Moving isn’t that easy to do when you aren’t up for it!
What is the best thing to do to be more active?
As silly as it may sound the best thing to do is to take a single step, then escalate it to a few steps, then go for a short walk, then for a longer walk and so on.
Not so long ago I was in Boston, Massachusetts, I was very tired and I was alone, I had the perfect excuse to stay in my cosy room and do nothing, that is exactly what I did the first night. On the second day I slept till late and again I didn’t want to go out at all… I was tossing and turning in my bed, watching TV and saying to myself it’s ok don’t go out wait till the evening when your friend arrives.
The sun was shining out and it did look beautiful so I got out of the bed, took a shower, got dressed and after a very deep breath I left my room.
When I got to the street the sun (and the cold) got to me and I felt so awake and as I started walking down the street I felt my body awakening…
In the end I walked for hours and I felt so good for it!
One single step can lead to fountains of activity and tons of tasks done.
You can be as active as you wish personally or professionally, in my case I use the momentum created throught physical activities to empower me to make my day and work more fun and energised.
As Lao Tzu once said:
The journey of a thousand miles beings with one step.
Or we could also say,
The journey of a thousand things done begins with a single step.
- Want to do more? Move more!
- To do more you have to move more and it all starts with a single step.
- You can use the momentum from your activities to achieve and do more both personally and professionally.
